Learn the basics of cider making with an award-winning cider maker!

We’re excited to announce we’ve been working hard to bring a VIRTUAL CIDER CLASS right to your screen! The class will go over the basics of cider making and by the end of it you will have your first batch of cider happily bubbling away ready to provide you with your own homemade goodness!

The class will be led by the head cider maker at Meriwether Cider Gig Leadbetter who has been making cider for Meriwether for 5 years and has won many awards for his ciders including multiple Best in Shows at GLINTCAP and several Double Golds from Sip Northwest Best of the Northwest.

The class will be two Saturdays June 13th & 20th from 4-6pm.

Class alone will cost $50 and an additional $50 for equipment (picked up locally or shipped for an extra fee) *

Cider Making Equipment Package Includes:

  • Beginning Cider Making Booklet written by Gig Leadbetter
  • 64oz Jug
  • Hydrometer Kit
  • Thermometer
  • 250mL Glass Graduated Cylinder
  • Racking Hose
  • Cleaning Brush
  • Yeast
  • Powdered Detergent
  • StarSan Santizer
  • Plastic 1000mL Beaker
  • Airlock + Bung
  • Yeast Nutrient
  • Small Funnel

What students will provide themselves:

  • Fresh Apple Juice
  • Small measuring cup
  • Filtered or distilled water (no chlorine)

All the basics will be covered in the class including how to:

  • Pick the type of apple juice
  • Propagate and pitch yeast
  • Measure specific gravity
  • Siphon (rack) cider
  • Experiment with flavors in your cider
  • The history of cider, and much more!

By the end of the two classes you’ll be well on your way in your cider journey!

*It is not recommended to do the class without equipment, we are offering the “class alone” ticket for homebrewers who already own all the equipment they’ll need
